Bios

Maggie Baker (Princess Winnifred ) is thrilled to return to the Chapin Theatre stage as the feisty and fearless Princess Winnifred! Some of her favorite roles include Roxie Hart in Chicago (Chapin Theatre), Erma in Anything Goes (Town Theatre), and Grace, a not-so-graceful stepsister, in Cinderella (Chapin Theatre). Maggie would like to give heartfelt thanks to the incredible Once Upon a Mattress production team for their support, vision, and encouragement. She also sends endless love to her wonderful family and her amazing fiancé, Ian, for always being in her corner–even when it’s a little swampy. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Christian Banks (Knght 5) is excited to be a part of this super cast. This show will have you “rolling” with laughter and “swimming” for love. He hopes everyone will enjoy this unconventional princess story

McCall Bethurem (Musical Director) is so grateful and excited to be music directing her fourth Summer show with Chapin Theatre Company and with such an awesome cast and crew! Thanks to everyone for putting so much effort in over the summer to bring this show to life. She is thankful for MJ, Tiffany, Meredith and Cindy for this great opportunity to work alongside such gifted, driven and hardworking women. McCall thanks her husband and kids for their love and support and she hopes you enjoy the show! And thanks everyone for their continued support of CTC!

Cindy Binnicker (Stage Manager) is happy to be stage managing with Chapin Theatre for the summer show. She is blessed to have an amazing production team and backstage crew who always have her back. Always remember, a small pea can have a huge impact and so can you!

Meredith Boehme (Choreographer) is excited to be a part of the production team for Once Upon a Mattress. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old and has a BA in Dance from Columbia College. She has been choreographing for Chapin Theatre Company since 2018. She has also worked as the assistant director and choreographer for ICRC children’s theater and is an instructor at Chapin Academy of Performing Arts. She would like to thank this talented cast and fellow production team members for making this show so much fun! She would also like to thank her husband for understanding the crazy summer schedule and her daughter Rilyn for being her choreography “assistant”

Tayshaun Brown (Knight 4) is back again, doing his 3rd show with Chapin Theatre Company! Tay has been involved in a couple of productions with Chapin Theatre, such as playing the role of Carlos in Descendants The Musical and was part of the ensemble in Cinderella. Tay is so grateful to be part of Chapin Theatre, to be able to reconnect with friends, as well as making more amazing memories with the cast and production crew! He hopes you enjoy this comedic show!

John Carter (Knight 3: Sir Daniel ) is thrilled to be part of this super cool cast. John has been in numerous shows at Chapin Theatre, Village Square, and On-Stage Productions. Some of his favorite roles are Robertson Ay in Mary Poppins, Mr. Sowerberry in Oliver the Musical, Dickon in Secret Garden the Musical, and Wilson in Harvey. John has also played guitar and percussion in the pit for several shows including Rock of Ages at the Lexington Icehouse.

Samuel Cleveland (Sir Studley ) is currently a college student attending Midlands Tech. Samuel has been in quite a few productions including, A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play, High School Musical Jr’s Troy Bolton, Rodger and Hammersteins: Cinderella as Prince Christopher and Disney’s Descendants as Prince Ben. He questioned whether or not he belonged in the theatre world, but he’s found his place and a new home performing on stage with wonderful people and amazing crews. He’s very excited to perform with Chapin Theatre once again.

Jim DeFelice (King Sextimus) is reprising a role he performed 20 years ago. “It’s been a while since I’ve been in a musical. Maybe, that’s why I was cast as a mute King ;o).” Jim loves working on the Harbison stage with the dream team, Mary Jo, Meredith, McCall, Tiffany and Cindy and all of the summer family show cast and crew. Jim is Chapin Theatre’s President and Executive Director and he thanks Tina for helping to build all of the set pieces with him.

Caitlin DeGrave (1st Lady in Waiting: Rowena) is thrilled to be back for her third show with Chapin Theatre, mainly because she’s a sucker for a story that involves wading through a swamp. You might’ve recently spotted her sweating profusely through a NYC winter as an ensemble member in RENT at Village Square. Her other local claim-to-fame roles include the diabolical Cruella (Descendants), a dancing cheese grater extraordinaire (Beauty and the Beast), and Emily Hobbs (Elf). Thanks for braving the swamps of home to see the show!

Isaiah Dickinson (Sir Harold) is thrilled to be in Once Upon a Mattress! You may have seen him as Prince Topher (Cinderella), Duncan (Robin Hood), Troy Bolton (High School Musical 2) and in other shows on the Spring Hill stage. Offstage, he enjoys hanging with family and friends, and participating in other leadership activities. Isaiah will be a freshman at USC in the fall. He would like to thank his family and friends for their constant support and to Meredith, Mary Joy, McCall and Tiffany for taking a chance on him. He hopes this isn’t his last show with CTC. Enjoy the show!

Tiffany Dinsmore (Producer/Artistic Director) is too busy to be “swamped” - well maybe a little. She is so honored to be a part of this phenomenal creative team and wonderfully talented cast bringing Once Upon a Mattress to the Harbison Theatre stage. Tiffany wears many, many hats here at Chapin Theatre, being the Artistic Director, the Director of CAPA (Chapin Academy of Performing Arts) and during the school year she gets to watch her first grandchild, Elodie. She is grateful to everyone involved in this production and is even more grateful for all of you coming out and supporting CTC.

Mason Favati (Knight 2: Lord Howard ) is a rising junior at Wofford College and is extremely excited to be in the ensemble for Chapin Theatre’s production of Once Upon a Mattress! He is no stranger to the stage as he was previously in Disney’s Descendants as Doug, in the ensemble for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and in Almost, Maine as Daniel.

April Garrett (Stage Lighting/Properties) has no idea how many shows she has worked with because she is having too much fun to count! She was last seen on stage in Closed for the Holidays in 2022. Since then, she has been behind the scenes, helping run tech for Death by Design, 31 Postcards, It’s a Wonderful Life Radio Show, and Amorous Ambassador, to name a few. Outside of the theatre, she enjoys being with family and friends, and snuggling with her dogs Gus and Misfit

Alexandra Gibson (Crew) bio coming.

Gerrard Goines (ASM Left) is elated to be assistant stage managing for his second time with Chapin Theatre. Not only has he been behind the scenes, but on stage as well. His previous roles include Donkey (Shrek the Musical), Colonel Mustard (Clue), Beast (Beauty and the Beast) and King Maximillian (Cinderella). However, Gerrard’s most exciting new adventure will be welcoming his first child with the love of his life, Akyra, in September. Thank you all for coming out, supporting our local theatre and this amazingly talented cast!

Makayla Hines (ASM Right) is a rising junior at Winthrop University majoring in musical theatre with a minor in arts management. She is beyond excited to make her technical debut at Chapin Theatre but this is not her first time remaining behind the curtain! Most recently she worked as sound board operator for Winthrop Theatre’s production of Antigone and stage managed/assistant directed shows while in high school.

Diana Hodge (Lady Mabelle) is so excited to be performing her first show at Chapin Theatre! While this may be her first community theatre experience, she is no stranger to the stage. During her high school years, Diana performed in several musicals. Some of her most notable roles include The Witch in Into The Woods Jr., Mrs. Gloop in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and Scuttle in The Little Mermaid. Diana has loved working on Once Upon a Mattress and is so grateful for the friends she has made along the way. This is truly a wonderful community.

Audrey Johnson (Lady Emily) is thrilled to be back on stage with Chapin Theatre Company. Her recent credits include Into the Woods, Once Upon a Mattress, Les Miserables, and Newsies. She would like to thank the directors for believing in her, and her family for their continued support.

Mary Jo Johnson (Director) is thrilled to be back in the saddle with the CTC summer production dream team. With 20+ years of professional background in the industry, Mary Jo enjoys teaching, guiding and equipping the next generation of performers to grace the stage with their gifts and talents. Although she loves theatre, Mary Jo’s greatest accomplishments include being wife to Rocky, mother to Tyler, Ansley and Audrey, and Grandma to Cyrus. Mary Jo wants to thank her husband for his patient endurance with her insane theatre schedule and his continued support.

Hannah Jones (Lady Beatrice) is thrilled to be back on stage with her theatre family for Once Upon a Mattress! She is currently a rising sophomore at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Early Childhood Education with the hopes of becoming a kindergarten teacher. Outside of school, she enjoys babysitting, playing pickleball, teaching Sunday School, and leading Young Life at Spring Hill. Hannah also teaches dance at South Carolina Dance Company and CAPA. She wants to thank her amazing parents for always supporting her dreams…even when it involves stuffing a mattress topper into a fully packed car (sorry, Dad!).

Debra Kiser (Queen Aggravain) is joining Chapin Theatre Company for her sixth year. During this time she has appeared in six full length plays (Dixie Swim Club, Clue, Farce of Nature, Stilt Girl, Final Appearance, and The Amorous Ambassador) and six 10-minute plays. This show, Lucky Number Seven, is her first role in a musical since 1981 (Nancy in Oliver). Debra also appeared as Aunt Abby in Arsenic and Old Lace (Workshop) and M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias (Town) in the past year. When not appearing on stage, she enjoys entertaining with family and friends.

Grant Martini (Sir Luce) is a rising sophomore at Spring Hill High. He has performed in over 13 shows and two short films. Grant also enjoys weightlifting and wants to be an entrepreneur one day.

Abby Mathias (Nightingale / Princess Number 12 / Lady Dora) is thrilled to be spending her summer partying it up with Chapin Theatre Company! She’s a rising junior at USC, majoring in theatre and loving it every minute. She also marches in the saxophone section of the Carolina Band, recently seen in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and is active in USC’s Dance Marathon. Abby serves on CTC’s board of directors and has played roles like Ariel (Little Mermaid), Sillabub (Cats), and Jafar (Aladdin Jr.). When not performing, she’s likely with her cats or talking about Disney like it’s her second language.

Kelsey McGarrigan (3rd Lady in Waiting: Lucille) is excited to be part of another summer show with Chapin Theatre Company! She has been seen on stage with CTC in Cinderella (Ensemble), Descendants (Fairy Godmother), 37 Postcards (Gillian), and Beauty and the Beast (Ensemble). Earlier this season she was seen in the ensembles of Town Theatre’s Something’s Afoot and Spamalot. When Kelsey is not on stage she works at USC, collects mugs, plays games, and travels to new and familiar places (Disney World). Thanks to the ladies in my life who have my back better than this 3rd lady in waiting. Dedicated to my mom, Love Lucy.

Billy McNeill (Jester) is 18 years old and is a recent graduate from Spring Hill High School! He will be attending the University of South Carolina next year as a Theatre major and hoping to double major in Business. He has been doing theatre for most of his life and is super excited to share the stage as The Jester with so many amazing people at Chapin Theatre! In his free time he usually likes hanging out with his friends, playing video games, and spending time with his girlfriend! He hopes everyone enjoys the show

Lonnie Owen (Sir Harry) who is fresh from his role as the Black Knight in Spamalot, has had his limbs poorly reattached so he can bring his singing and acting (thankfully, not dancing) talents to the stage once more. He’d like to especially thank Tiffany Dinsmore for getting him started and continuing his love of theatre acting. For better or worse, everything going forward is completely her fault.

Hannah Jean Peak (2nd Lady in Waiting: Merrill) is excited to make her CTC debut and wants to thank Mary Jo, Meredith, McCall and the rest of the OUAM creative team for allowing her to do her favorite thing, goof around on stage! You may have recently seen her in Sordid Lives (Noleta Nethercott), Escape to Margaritaville (Wanda/Ensemble), Arsenic and Old Lace (Officer O’Hara), and Hairspray (Ensemble), all at Workshop Theatre. When not spending time on the stage, Hannah works full-time at the University of South Carolina. She is thankful to her friends, her pup Lavender, and her fiancé Stuart for supporting her creative dreams.

Jenna Sweeney (Lady Dorothy) returns for her second production with Chapin Theatre after playing a Merry Murderess in CTC’s Chicago. She has been in three Town Theatre productions, The Sound of Music, Beautiful: the Carole King Musical, and Anything Goes. Jenna loves being on the stage more than anything and has danced since the age of six. When she attends college, she hopes to obtain a BFA in Musical Theatre. Jenna would like to thank her family and friends for their continuous support. This show has been such a joyful experience for her and she hopes you all enjoy it as well!

Frank Thompson (Minstrel) is thrilled to be performing in the role of the Minstrel. He was most recently seen portraying one of his dream roles, Billy Flynn in Chapin Theatre’s Chicago. You may have also seen Frank as Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace at Workshop Theatre, and as Freddie Fillmore in It’s a Wonderful Life on tour and in-house at CTC. Frank is privileged to serve on CTC’s Board of Directors, and enjoyed his most recent venture of directing Barefoot in the Park. His other credits include Freddie/Philip in Noises Off, Dr. Watson in The Hound of the Baskervilles, and Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. He sends his love to this amazing cast, and the best production team in the world. Thank you for making this show magical!

Chris Whitehead (Knight 1: Sir Christopher) started acting in 2019, after being cast in Chapin Theatre Company’s production of Shrek the Musical. This is his fifth show with CTC and he hopes to continue working with them for many years to come. When he’s not on stage, he works as a mental health therapist and in his free time he enjoys cooking, fencing, and playing his instruments.

Abigail Williams (Lady Larken) is thrilled to be making her Chapin Theatre Company debut in Once Upon a Mattress! Originally from Massachusetts, Abigail is currently a graduate student at the University of South Carolina, where she is working on her Masters of Arts in Teaching in Choral Music Education. Her past favorite roles include Serena in Legally Blonde and Glory in Almost, Maine. Big thanks to the creative team of Once Upon a Mattress for giving her this opportunity to bring Lady Larken to life. She hopes you enjoy the show today!

Joel Yarborough (Wizard) is excited to appear in his first show with Chapin Theatre Company. Some of his favorite roles in the past have been Olin Britt in Music Man (twice!), Sam in Mamma Mia, and Max in Sound of Music. He would like to thank his wife Janey, and his daughters Lilly and Isabella for their continued love and support.

Tyler Zangla (Prince Dauntless the Drab) is thrilled to be back with Chapin Theatre. He is very thankful for this opportunity to continue working with CTC for another performance, his last time on the Chapin stage was for its’ 10 Minute-ish Play Festival. He hopes to bring Prince Dauntless to the stage in a way that everyone can enjoy, and he thanks everyone who made this musical transition from script to spoken line and song. Tyler also wants you to know that he is not in danger from all the throwing around that happens to him.
