The CAPA Youth Company distinguishes itself from other youth companies by having students audition to join a season of training and performances that runs August to March, featuring twice a week classes, monthly master classes, and performance opportunities beyond the end of season youth show.
We prioritize theatre education that goes well beyond show preparation. Upon joining our company, you will find a supportive community of instructors and peers who will motivate and inspire you to reach your full potential. We believe in nurturing not just performers, but well-rounded individuals with a deep appreciation for the arts. Throughout the season, students will engage in a variety of master classes that cover acting techniques, voice training, dance, character development, and even behind the scenes aspects like set/costume design and stage management. This holistic approach ensures that each company member gains a comprehensive understanding of theatre production.
In addition to honing their performance skills, students are encouraged by instructors to develop important life skills such as team work, leadership, individual responsibility, and self-confidence. Our company is not just about putting on a great show, it is about creating memorable experiences that foster personal growth and long lasting friendships. Our dedicated staff of instructors will guide students in these areas, whether a person decides to enter the professional world as a performer or chooses to use their skills in a different way. We want them to be well rounded individuals who love and respect all that the arts have to teach them.
At The CAPA Youth Company, we celebrate life and theatre together. Join us and embark on a journey of artistic and self discovery, where your passion for theatre can flourish in an environment that is enriching and fun.
The CAPA Youth Company is launching its first ever company this year with a company of students ages 12-18. Membership is based on a yearly audition that includes dance, drama and vocal. CAPA Youth Company is a part of Chapin Theatre Company, which is a Non-Profit Theatre organization. The emphasis of our youth company is on performance and stage presence, where creativity and self-expression are encouraged. This company meets two days per week for training and rehearsals, with an increase in rehearsal times closer to the performance. Some Saturday training/rehearsals will be necessary.
